Untethered: A Memoir

Untethered, A Memoir, explores Elizabeth Jane’s life in England after leaving the Caribbean and the only parents she knew. She spent her first five years surrounded by family secrets that continue to affect her today. Emotionally unprepared, she sought security through hard work to achieve reputable goals. When her hopes that her marriage would provide the companionship and love she craves are dashed, she leaves England with her three children and moves to the United States. Elizabeth Jane Pryce now resides in Bellingham, Washington. She is an avid gardener, enjoys walking in the park with Henry, her schnauzer, and volunteers for Bellingham at Home.

Chosen: A Memoir

Jane was a much loved and cared for child, but the dynamics of the British Colonial rule in the Caribbean, where she was raised, the governmental control in the school system, and the island’s cultural fervour during the 1950s and 60s all play a part in her perspective of the world around her as she ages. A stable home life did not equate to the same in the outside world. With the innocence of a child, Jane struggles to understand and cope with the traumatic occurrences and the lasting effect they have on her emotionally.

Praise for Chosen, A Memoir:

Chosen is the story of a young girl’s multi-island life in the Caribbean. A visit to Jane’s Garden of Eden(s) is both fascinating and mysterious. Like Jane’s toy kaleidoscope, her tale is vivid and full of colorful imagery, revealing an exotic life one can only imagine.  —George Francis Edward: author of  How to steal from Mom, and The Blue Bottles Writing Studio: A Variety of Stories.

Children don’t have much say in the choices that impact their lives. Jane spent her first fourteen years believing her grandparents were Mummy and Daddy. Jane is described as a precocious child, which  is obvious by her exacting and exciting memories of her early years growing up in the Caribbean, before moving to England at age 14. Chosen a compelling, must read book. —Christine M. Kendall: author of Resting in the Familiar and At Home on Upper Beaver Creek.

Until she turned fourteen, Elizabeth Jane Pryce roamed the isolated beaches of the 1950s Caribbean; she free-wheeled to school on her restored green bicycle. Jane’s island life ended abruptly, but her experiences created a resilient woman. I marvel at the stories in Chosen, A Memoir. I recommend it. —Mary Elizabeth Gillilan Publisher & Editor of Clover, A Literary Rag. Author of Tibet, A Writer’s Journal, and, Confluence, a novel.
