The white world of winter has descended. It is pretty in the garden. But when I walk Henry outside, even with the sun shining, my eyes water, my glasses fog up, my lips go numb, and my nose is so cold I can hardly blow it!

Still, Henry enjoys himself, and the walk is pretty. The small amount of snow in my area is pleasant—there is no need to shovel, which always makes me happy. Yet, less than two miles away at the airport, I read they had eight inches!
BOOKS I’VE READ
My most recent reads were The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon—An incredible novel about a midwife in the mid-1700s. The author’s story and style of writing kept me going for every page. And Out of the Dust, a scholastic short novel by Karen Hesse. Each chapter is a poem telling the harrowing story of the Dust Bowl days in Oklahoma through the eyes of a ten-year-old girl.
MY WRITING
The cold steals my breath.
Shreds my lips
Burn my eyes.
It’s a short walk,
Through the field
Then home for hot tea.

We just came back from a lovely walk on the beach!
No snow down this way. A lot of hype, though.
