With the heat dome building in the Pacific Northwest, the temperature in my area has been rising. I finally took a break from fighting the moles; they have been very active. I had to collect and add more stones to cover the soil in the garden. And the deadheading and cleaning up have been continuous. Although a gardener’s work is never done, I was happy with my garden by the weekend. It was a beautiful setting for something different.
I provided plenty of canopies over the tables and improvised with muslin drapes hanging from the edges. With some shade and just a touch of breeze, it was the perfect time for a tea party in my garden.
As a volunteer with the Bellingham at Home: a virtual village for vital adults to age in place with dignity and grace, I chose to do a fundraiser in my floriferous four-season garden. The roses are the most prominent in August. But flowers are not the only items of interest in my garden. There are many nooks and crannies filled with art of all kinds. The prompt for this tea party was the number of fairy houses situated around the walkway into my home.

The tea party was a great success. Spread over four-time slots, there was a total of 38 people partaking in delicate tidbits of savory and sweet delights. They all enjoyed chatting with new friends and touring the garden, and I had the chance to met new writers, whom I invited to join the Blue Bottles Writing Studio.

Your garden sounds wonderful Jane – wish I lived near by. Any pictures?
