Hello to all my Readers,
I have taken so long to get writing about the letter R because it has been an especially hard time for me over the last couple of months. The struggle for life became overwhelming difficult for my precious little dog Daisy. It was the hardest action imaginable to make an appointment with the vet to end her life. Even now tears fill my eyes writing about her.
The picture at the top was sent to me from the Arbor Day Foundation after my vet sent them a donation in memory of Daisy. It was a lovely gesture. Inside the Card it reads:
The Arbor Day Foundation has received a donation in memory of Daisy, A tree will be planted in Bootleg Fire Recovery in Oregon
I also watch an elderly friend waste away in a care facility because her husband refused to have anything to do with her care at home. And I have another friend of over twenty-five years, who because of dementia was moved to an assisted living facility. Because of her confusion about certain things these days it is hard for her to understand, at times, why she is living where she is and who controls her money. If that wasn’t enough, my computer began to play-up and in trying to fix it and deal with the stress, I lost half of my already edited Memoir!
I was in Resistance to life but I did managed, very slowly, to put one foot in front of another as my wonderful Grandmother or “Mummy” as I knew her, always told me to do when things became difficult to handle. I spent time holding and enjoying my other dog Henry, who is happy to know he no longer has canine competition.
Finally, I have been able to find Relief, Recovery, Replenish, and Relax time with a friend in Olympia. More sleep, good food and watching Henry being exquisitely happy sitting in front of a glass door watching the squirrels play around the trees bordering the golf course. He sits there every minute of the day except at night or out for a walk. I know I will feel more whole now, when I am at home again. Daisy was a Remarkable little dog, who I will never forget and will write more about her next time.
WRITING
I do have to mention that the R in writing stands for Research, which is somethingI enjoy doing. Often I learn details I didn’t know, and it in turn stimulates more memories. It certainly makes for a more interesting story when I am reading a book, come across something I don’t understand and look it up.

Hi Jane, Iâm just so terribly sorry to learn about Daisy. She was a precious little being, precious and fragile. She was one lucky little dog, having landed in your loving care.
So sorry to read about your dog Daisy! Best Wishes! Sharon
R is also for Remembering, something we’ll always do for dear Daisy. Trees bring life and growth to the world, so she will continue to impact the lives of others <3
I’m sending a prayer your way for Daisy! I agree with Mummy. Perhaps there’s no way around “it” but to place one foot in front of the other. I always wonder about how I’m “walking” when editing a poem. Research? I really enjoyed it, when going back to school. It was so neat to be able to open peer reviewed articles by PhDs in the comfort of your own home. So cool. But a lot of work. Take care Jane! P.S. I lost quite a few of my writings when an old laptop of mine was attacked by malware. You can take out your hard drive of an old computer and place it within an enclosure and access your saved documents from another computer. I still am going back to those files created around 2010. But, it’s a lesson in backing up your files which I do online and with a separate storage space. I think I like the old handwritten books better sometimes. Oh, god, and those old electric typewriters with white out. Lol!!
thank you for your prayers and suggestions. I need to get back to writing…
