After the beautiful warm sunshiny day yesterday, today wasn’t as nice. It was cold and wet. I couldn’t settle down to much today after I dragged a bag of stones back from the beach this morning in the fine Pacific Northwest drizzle. I don’t think I will do that again. I did fold the laundry. Get a new poem written and edited for submission to the Cascadia Daily News. I won’t be able to share it here until after the competition.
It wasn’t until six-thirty this evening that I went out into the garden, double-coated, and did a little work. I needed time to clear my head and return to concentrating on my writing for this week’s Blue Bottles Writing Studio gathering. We are getting together this week around a large table at our local Indie store in Fairhaven. We are reading our stories here because a friend, Mary Elizabeth Gillilan, is presenting her latest book, Confluence. A novel about the adventures of a woman with cerebral palsy who goes to Tibet. Mary believes heroism is a thing in the spirit. With that in mind, Mary presents Maya, the protagonist, with different obstacles to manage in Tibet. Meanwhile, I am left to finish writing my piece on my childhood holidays in time to present it to my writing friends tomorrow.
